Questions or a Job in Mind?
Check the answers below or tell James what you need. Small jobs welcome.
What electrical jobs can you help with?
Repairs, fault finding, sockets, lighting, consumer unit upgrades, rewiring and electrical installations for homes and businesses. Small jobs are welcome.
Which areas do you cover?
Brechin and locations within a 40-mile radius. Tell James your town when you enquire so he can confirm availability for your job.
What are your call-out charges?
There is no attendance fee between 8am and 6pm. Investigation, labour and parts are chargeable, with costs agreed first. For night-time emergency call-outs between 6pm and 8am, a call-out fee applies, agreed with you before James sets off. Extra work and parts are agreed first. No VAT is added. Emergency attendance is subject to availability.
Will I receive an investigation report?
Yes. After an electrical investigation, James provides a written record of the findings, work completed and recommended next steps, with supporting photographs where relevant. It covers the work investigated and is not an EICR or an assessment of the whole installation.
What happens if further work is needed?
James explains the findings and your options. Further repairs are quoted separately, and additional work or materials are agreed with you before proceeding.
How soon will you reply?
James aims to reply within one hour between 8am and 6pm. For an urgent electrical fault, call 01356 235858 rather than waiting for an email. Emergency calls are taken 24/7; attendance is subject to availability.
Do you offer emergency call-outs?
Yes, emergency calls are taken 24/7, subject to availability. Call for urgent faults; arrival time is confirmed when you speak to James.
How long does it take to rewire a house?
A typical 3-bedroom house rewire takes between 5 to 10 working days, depending on whether the property is vacant or occupied during the work.
Do I need to move out during a rewire?
While work can be completed around occupants on a room-by-room basis, a vacant property allows the job to be completed faster and with less daily disruption.
How often do I need an EICR certificate in Scotland?
For private rented properties in Scotland, inspections are required before first letting and at intervals of no more than five years, or sooner where specified. A change of tenancy does not automatically require a new report. For owner-occupied homes, discuss an appropriate inspection interval based on the installation and previous report.
