1. About Us

Brechin Electrician provides electrical services to domestic, commercial, and agricultural customers in Brechin and the wider Angus area. We are NICEIC Approved Contractors and members of SELECT, Scotland's trade association for the electrical industry. All our work complies with BS 7671 (18th Edition Wiring Regulations).

2. Quotations

  • All quotations are provided free of charge and are valid for 30 days unless otherwise stated.
  • Quotations are based on the information provided and a visual inspection of the work area. Additional charges may apply if unforeseen circumstances arise (e.g., hidden wiring issues, asbestos).
  • We will always discuss any additional work with you before proceeding and provide a revised quote if required.
  • Acceptance of a quotation can be made verbally, in writing, or by email.

3. Scheduling & Access

  • We will agree appointment times with you in advance and make every effort to arrive within the scheduled window.
  • If we are delayed, we will notify you as soon as possible.
  • You must ensure clear access to all work areas and remove any obstacles or valuable items from the immediate work zone.
  • For domestic work, an adult (18+) must be present or provide access arrangements.

4. Payment Terms

  • Small Works: Payment is due upon completion of work.
  • Larger Projects: For jobs over £500, we may require a deposit (typically 25-50%) before commencing work, with the balance due on completion.
  • We accept payment by bank transfer, cash, or card.
  • Invoices for account customers are due within 14 days.
  • We reserve the right to charge interest on overdue payments at 4% above the Bank of England base rate.

5. Emergency Call-Outs

  • We offer 24/7 emergency call-out services.
  • A call-out fee applies for emergency work outside standard hours (8am - 4pm, Monday to Friday).
  • The call-out fee will be confirmed when you book and is payable regardless of whether further work is required.
  • Any additional work will be quoted separately.

6. Cancellations

  • You may cancel or reschedule an appointment with at least 24 hours' notice at no charge.
  • Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice may incur a cancellation fee.
  • If materials have been ordered specifically for your job, you may be liable for the cost of non-returnable items.

7. Workmanship Guarantee

  • All our work is guaranteed for 12 months from the date of completion.
  • This covers defects in workmanship and faulty materials we have supplied.
  • The guarantee does not cover damage caused by misuse, third-party interference, or normal wear and tear.
  • As NICEIC Approved Contractors, notifiable work is covered by the NICEIC Platinum Promise for additional peace of mind.

8. Certificates & Documentation

Upon completion of notifiable electrical work, we will provide appropriate certification:

  • Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC): For new installations
  • Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate (MEIWC): For smaller additions to existing installations
  • Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR): For periodic inspections and landlord safety checks

As an NICEIC Approved Contractor, we self-certify work to Angus Council Building Control, saving you time and administrative burden.

9. Liability & Insurance

  • We hold Public Liability Insurance of £10 million.
  • Our liability for any claim is limited to the value of the contract or the insurance coverage, whichever is lower.
  • We are not liable for losses arising from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, pre-existing defects, or damage caused by others.
  • Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.

10. Complaints

We aim to provide excellent service. If you are unhappy with any aspect of our work, please contact us immediately so we can resolve the issue. As members of SELECT, you also have access to their independent dispute resolution service if we cannot reach an agreement.
